We offer one comprehensive package for independent school and college counseling. Our experienced team understands that the most compelling applications tell a cohesive story across all parts of the application, highlighting the unique strengths and dimensions of each student.
In addition to our comprehensive package, we also offer a one-time parent guidance session where parents can bring their questions and gain better insight regarding a range of topics including the independent school and college admission landscape as well as 504 and IEP guidance within a public school. Parents will have their questions answered and leave with an understanding of next steps and how to best support their student.
We encourage you to schedule a consultation so we can explain our services in detail and pricing. During this conversation, you may also discover that the excellent resources already available at your student’s high school could be exactly what they need.
As a general guideline, our clients submit approximately 8 applications. And, also, the answer is, “it depends.”
At JLG Education Services, we use data and years of experience to help families create a balanced college list tailored to each student.
Typically, students submit applications in two waves: the first wave may include one Early Decision school and a few Early Action schools. Depending on the initial college responses and the timing, students will have additional college applications in their back pocket ready to submit under regular decision.
Yes. We take a team approach for both the main college essay and school-specific supplements. Our skilled counselors and essay specialists help students express their voice and ideas authentically while also providing guidance and edits alongside the student. Maintaining the student’s voice and authenticity—some of the most important elements of a compelling essay—is always our priority.
Your high school counselor is an important partner and, for some students, provides all the support needed to navigate the college application process. In our initial consultation, we can help you assess whether your student would benefit from extra support and we can also make sure you are aware of the free resources available to every student and family.
We provide guidance and resources to help families understand both financial aid and merit scholarship opportunities. Our counselors consider these factors carefully when developing and strategizing college lists.
Because tuition costs can vary widely, particularly based on merit awards, we help students and families understand the financial implications of their choices—especially when considering Early Decision I or II applications—before submitting any applications.
Yes, our team has experience working with recruited athletes. Typically, the high school or club coach guides the student in evaluating athletic fit at various institutions. We collaborate with coaches, students, and parents on the student’s entire application assessing the academic fit.
Sometimes students maintain two college lists, one including athletics and the other one without. Our counselors also have specific expertise: one has a deep understanding of tennis recruiting, and another specializes in women’s lacrosse.
Yes. Our team includes school counselors with experience as 504 managers and trained school psychologists. We understand that a college’s environment is especially important for students considering their learning styles.
While all colleges offer support for students with disabilities, the actual student experience can vary widely. We help families ask the right questions and assess how each college’s resources align with a student’s needs.
